Abstract

Human as a member of society cannot be separated from the motivation to
progress leading to the occurrence of a change. Growth and development of the
society is the most important portion of a change of the. Dakwah of Islam has
given number of concepts and basic principles about the development of society
in accordance with the instructions of al-Quran and al-Hadith. Community
development is basically the process of improving the quality of life through
individual, family and society. It is done to gain power in the development of
potential and skill, knowledge and resources available to make decisions and take
action on their own well-being in accordance with the instructions of Islam. The
Islamic Community Development has several interrelated dimensions each other.
Failure in one dimension will be very influential to other dimensions. The
dimensions include the social, economic, political, cultural, environmental and
personal/spiritual. Because of it, it is needed unity, brotherhood, cooperation
(ta'awun), community worker (al-'amilun), understand the local culture
(ma'rifah) and independence principle. Independence principle is a fundamental
principle in the development of society (mas'uliyah), balance (tawazun), holistic
(syumuliyah) and based on the creed Islamiyah. By the Islamic principles, the
social welfare activists together (Musharaka) can move to a positive change that is
permanent and dignified life Hereafter.
